PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Clare Rowe is from Sydney, Australia, where she began playing the cello as a Suzuki student at the age of eight. She studied with Georg Pedersen in Sydney, completing a BMus degree with first class honours at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, and then, at postgraduate level, with Ralph Kirshbaum at the RNCM in Manchester, UK, where she was awarded the Diploma in Professional Performance, having gained both the PgDip and the MMus with distinction.

Clare is the winner of the City of Sydney Cello Award, the Sydney Youth Orchestra Association Cello Competition and the Royal Overseas League Music Competition’s Tait Memorial Trust Prize. Upon completion of her studies at the RNCM, Clare was awarded the Diane Bolton Prize for Cello.

Clare has performed widely as a chamber and orchestral musician in both Australia and the UK. Her string quartet was the Quartet in Residence at Tattenhall Music Society, in Cheshire, for four years.

She has worked as a freelance cellist with many British orchestras and prior to moving to the UK, had a position in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra.

Clare is now a member of the cello section of the Hallé Orchestra, in Manchester. She teaches cello & chamber music at the Royal Northern College of Music Junior School, and cello at the University of Manchester.
