PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Matthew Segger has been Principal Tuba of the Osnabrück Symphony Orchestra in Germany since 2009.

Matthew was born in Brisbane, Queensland in 1982 and began his musical education with the current New Zealand Symphony Orchestra Tubist, Andrew Jarvis, at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music in 2000. In 2002 he moved to Melbourne, where he completed his Master of Music, at the University of Melbourne, in 2005 under the guidance of Fabian Russell (Former Principal Tuba of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra). Matthew moved to Europe in mid 2005, where he contiued his studies in London, Munich, Berlin and Leipzig.

Between 2008 and 2009 he was a Tuba Academist with the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, where he gained an increidible musical experience under the guidance of fellow Australian World Orchestra member David Cribb. Matthew has performed as a guest with various german orchestras during his time in Europe including such renowned institutions as the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig, The Deutsche Kammerpihlharomine Bremen, the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra and the Bavarian State Opera.

Matthew enjoys also playing in various chamber ensembles and recently began a Tuba Quartet: Heavy MättAL, with fellow low brass colleagues in the surrounding German Orchestras of Osanbrück.
