PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Sophie Spencer is currently studying at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) under the tutelage of Tristram Williams. In 2017, Sophie was the recipient of a Sydney University Sydney Scholars Award and the J. J. Kelly Memorial Scholarship at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she commenced her Bachelor of Music (Performance) degree. She studied with Andrew Evans in 2017 and has studied with David Elton since 2013.

Sophie has performed in programs with the Australian Youth Orchestra (AYO) since 2014 and was the 2018 Principal Trumpet at National Music Camp, February Season and July Season. This year, she participated in the AYO Adelaide Symphony Orchestra Fellowship Program and an ANAM Side-by-Side project with the Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra in a Brass Concert. Sophie has held Principal Trumpet positions in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music’s Wind Symphony and the Castle Hill RSL Youth Wind Orchestra, and has performed with Sydney Youth Orchestra, The Metropolitan Orchestra, The Musician’s Project, and Willoughby Symphony Orchestra.
