PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHY
Gemma Lee is a violinist from Sydney. She currently plays in the first violin section in the Gewandhausorchester in Leipzig, where she has held a contract since 2019. Prior to this she gained orchestral experience in the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Chamber Orchestra and the NDR Radiophilharmonie in Hannover, Germany, completing their respective development programs.
She studied under Dr. Goetz Richter at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where she held the Frank Hammond Merit Scholarship. Awarded the Marten Bequest Grant of the Australia Council for the Arts, she began her Masters studies in Germany with Prof. Ulf Schneider at the Hochschule fur Musik, Hannover. Since graduating in 2021 she is further developing her artistic proficiency with Professor Rudens Turku.
In addition to her orchestral career Gemma was finalist in various competitions including the Fine Music Young Virtuoso Award and the Kendall National Violin Competition.
