Marina Gillam was born in Perth, Australia and after completing a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Western Australia she received several scholarships to further her studies in the U.K. For 20 years Marina has been a member of the Bingham String Quartet, performing extensively throughout Britain appearing at all the leading festivals, around Europe and further afield, and on BBC Radio 3. She has also recorded and appeared on BBC Radio 3 with Jane Manning’s Minstrels. In 1995 Sir Simon Rattle appointed her to be a member of The City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra. In 1998 she relocated to London where she regularly appears with the Philharmonia Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra, London Mozart Players and the Mahler Chamber Orchestra.

Marina is also a professionally trained singer and has given numerous recitals and oratorio performances. She’s appeared alongside Jane Manning in the Purcell Room and has also performed with the Philharmonia Orchestra as part of its education programme.
