SUPPORT EDUCATION
“The members of the AWO recognised that the education they received in Australia was the springboard to their success and they are keen to give back to the community through the AWO’s education programme.”
– Alexander Briger, Chief Conductor and Artistic Director
The AWO is seeking education partners to help support their extensive education programmes consisting of:
Outreach
The AWO Outreach Programme brings classical music experiences to young people who don’t have opportunities to engage with professional musicians.
Masterclasses
The AWO is dedicated to inspiring our youth with a strong belief that stoking the fire of their passion for music will, potentially encourage them to pursue a career in the industry and continue the cycle of cultural enrichment that we are so passionate about ourselves.
Mentoring
AWO players mentor a select group of younger musicians, provide lessons, introductions to other teachers/musicians, rehearsal access, career guidance and support.
AWO Academy
The AWO Academy offers pre-professional players a place in the orchestra for an immersive orchestral experience, providing an invaluable opportunity for emerging musicians to attend rehearsals, receive side-by-side mentoring by AWO players, travel and tour with the orchestra and perform as a fully-fledged member of the orchestra.
Since 2011, we’re delighted to have provided this springboard to a number of young Australian players both within Australia and on international tours with the AWO. Many of these musicians have also been invited to return to play with the AWO in a professional capacity following their Academy season.
