A Night to Shine!

Talented and aspiring players from across NSW will perform side by side with some of Australia’s finest classical musicians, in what will be an extraordinary showcase of regional and metropolitan youth orchestras.

Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House
Saturday 3 September, 5pm

Over 100 promising young classical musicians from various ensembles in NSW will come together with Australian World Orchestra musicians for the AWO Masters & Youth concert, “A Night To Shine”.

The combined orchestral performance will be an extremely memorable experience for these student musicians as they perform a comprehensive and exciting programme.

The evening will begin with excerpts from Dvořák Symphony no.9, by gifted students of the Regional Youth Orchestra (RYO).

The Arts Unit Symphony Orchestra will follow, erupting into Sibelius’s Finlandia, an emotionally powerful tone poem, followed by the tempestuous Jet-stream, by Australian composer Paul Stanhope, before bringing John Williams’s epic Far and Away score to life.

Finally, the ensembles will unite with North Sydney Girls’ High School Orchestra in an execution of Hold Fast, composed by Australian Edward McKnight. An exhilarating and vibrant finale, the spirited sound of the instruments will reverberate around the hall, leaving the audience in no doubt that this generation is the future of classical music.

This spectacular performance is for one night only, on 3 September 2022, in the recently re-opened Concert Hall, Sydney Opera House.

Don’t miss ‘A Night To Shine’.
